About us
Our story began in Mauritius in 1972, with Farouk Hossen’s first practice and a commitment to personal eye care.
Farouk Hossen
After qualifying as an optician in London in 1967, Farouk Hossen continued his contact lens training at Moorfields Eye Hospital and worked at E. B. Meyrowitz. He brought that experience home to establish Farouk Hossen Opticians. The group also developed lens surfacing and anti-reflection coating facilities.
Reihaz Ismail
An optometry graduate of the University of Durban-Westville, Reihaz Ismail has combined clinical practice and leadership at the group since 1992. His work includes complex contact lens fitting and community eye care initiatives.
